Donkey-trekking in France

When he booked a Cévennes holiday, Stephen Bleach hoped for a compliant beast. He got Mistral.

There are times in life when swearing is profoundly beneficial. Being stranded in a storm on a remote French mountain with an uncooperative donkey is one of them.

I didn’t think it would be like this. In fact, when I heard that a UK tour operator was offering donkey-trekking holidays in the Cévennes, I made a number of unwarranted assumptions.
